Live intentionally. They do.

Living intentionally has been a theme of this blog lately. Take charge of your decisions and your life.

live intentionally

I recently ran across a blog from a husband and wife who are really walking the talk, literally. The last I checked, they counted more than 62 million footsteps on their continuing worldwide trek. Daniel Noll and Audrey Scott have been traveling the world for several years and reporting about it in words and pictures on their Uncornered Market blog.

One post,, focused specifically on living deliberately and offered seven excellent questions to ask yourself, which I’ve summarized below. These echo what an effective decision maker does—discover goals, recognize choices, balance priorities and take action. Most important is realizing that you always have choices, for action or inaction, and among a broader range of alternatives than you may have originally realized.

1) What are your priorities? What is important to you? What are you willing to give up to get it?

2) Do you recognize that you have choices? Always?
Even in the worst of times, you have choices if you have the will to see them.

3) What’s better: Talking or doing?
Talking can motivate you, but action gets you where you want to be.

4) Do your choices have consequences?
Accept that the consequences may not always be what you want or expect, but that you can control how you react.

5) Do you regret?
Is there a gap between your priorities and your actions? Move to fill it.

6) Can you be dissatisfied with an outcome and still be content that you took action? Sometimes bad things happen to good decisions. Learn from it and move forward.

7) Do you understand different strokes and respect different folks?
Be aware of the vast number of lifestyle options.

They end by asking, “So, have you chosen your lifestyle? Or has it chosen you?”
